The biggest movie of 2023 was the biggest surprise of the year!

A Barbie doll gains sentience and discovers the horrors of existential dread. She ventures into the real world to deal with it. Upon returning to Barbieland, she discovers that Ken has embraced Patriarchy and assumed control. She must then muster the other Barbie dolls to restore the matriarchy.

This is an awesome movie. Gerwig is one of the better directors working these days, Ladybird being a favorite of mine. This was sharp, smart, and hilarious. Well worthy of the 97 gazillion dollars it amassed at the box office.

A must see. 9/10
