The 555th film I have seen in theaters…

We start 2024 with a little song and dance!

Young Willy Wonka makes his way to the big city to begin making chocolate. He soon runs afoul of the local chocolate cartel and must fight for his dream.

2024 is off the a nice start with a movie that is… surprisingly good! I’ve grown to like Timothee Chalamet and he continues to impress me here. The third actor to assume the role, I’d put him in 2nd place. Gene Wilder is tough to beat, but Chalamet not only evoked that performance but was able to put his own spin on it. Hugh Grant continues to take on fascinating roles as he becomes an Oompa Loompa. The rest of the supporting cast was excellent, and the songs were well done. I’m not sure if this needs a sequel, but I would be open to one.
