The 571st film I have seen in theaters…
The job is simple: kidnap a rich man’s daughter and ransom her for 50 million dollars. Things go well until they discover that the girl is…a VAMPIRE! A BALLERINA VAMPIRE!

The film features an ensemble cast that all acted wonderfully. Abigail is played by Alisha Weir who brings a delightfully playful bit of evil to the role. The victims, I mean standout supporting cast, are Melissa Barrera as Joey, Dan Stevens as Frank, Will Catlett as Rickles, Angus Cloud as Dean, Kathryn Newton as Sammy, and Kevin Durand as Peter. Barrera is our lead, and does a fine job. Stevens is always great. Newton continues to be a favorite of mine. We last saw her in Lisa Frankenstein. She and Durand are the comic relief in this film, with Durand being perhaps my favorite character in the film.
This was a fun movie. I had the pleasure of seeing this while on vacation in Canada, the West Edmonton Mall to be precise. The theater was great and the sound excellent. Luckily the movie was worthy of it.
Horror/Comedy is very difficult to do well. This movie does it well. The gore was fantastic and the jokes all landed. A big part of this was the cast. They were perfectly cast, and I mean perfectly. This was a top tier movie for me. A lot of fun and perhaps the best horror movie of 2024.
8/10
