The 577th film I have seen in theaters…
1960’s Chicago. We follow the lives of the members of the Vandals Motorcycle club as it transitions from a place for misfits to find community into a vicious criminal organization.

Being very much a character study, this movie lives and dies by the cast. Luckily Jeff Nichols assembled a great one. Jodie Comer leads the cast as Kathy, a woman who falls in love with one of the bikers. She is fantastic, dissolves into the role. Her paramour is Austin Butler who AGAIN makes a case for being one of the best actors of his generation. I’ve yet to see this kid miss. He was riveting here. Tom Hardy is Johnny, the leader of the pack. This is another guy that always gives a terrific performance. Standouts from the rest are Jeff Nichol’s muse: Michael Shannon (stealing every scene as usual) and Norman Reedus as a California biker that joins the crew.
This was a great movie, not action packed but solidly written and performed. This is a film about people living their lives and trying to find some community. Go see this.
