The 590th film I have seen in theaters…
Spoilers below
Two Mormon missionaries knock on the wrong door…

Hugh Grant is Mr Reed, a homeowner. Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East play Sister Barnes and Paxton, the missionaries. All did a fantastic job, but Grant is superb. He uses every ounce of his charm and wit to deliver an ICONIC villain.
In a year full of excellent horror films, this was one of the best. This is not your gory/jump scare type of movie. This is essentially a conversation, a debate on the merits of religion. The tension ratchets up throughout and the film is great at giving you that anticipation that something horrific is about to happen. I liked that they did not paint the missionaries as completely naรฏve. The religious viewpoint is given equal weight, and the debate is actually one of substance. The end, while mysterious, plays into the interplay of how belief works.
A24 does it again.
8/10

What did you make of Sister Paxton’s passage through the series of rooms (towards the end of the movie) that contained esoteric books and paintings? How did this scene add value to the overall story?
