
Welcome to the 7th section of my Movie list: 2020-2024! We have previously covered films from 1987-2014 in parts I , II, III, IV, V, and VI!
2024! This is going to be the year. I feel it! 2023 was the first year with a hint of life in a while with 18 movies seen. I think 2024 has the potential to beat my highest ever tally of 35 movies. We shall see how it all shakes out!

555: Wonka – Timothee Chalamet steps into the hat of Willy Wonka in the fun musical adventure of Willy’s early days. (Review)

556: The Iron Claw – Zac Efron brings the tragedy of the Von Erich wrestling family to life in this decent movie. (Review)

557: Poor Things – Emma Stone makes a strong case for Best Actress in this phenomenal movie from Yorgos Lanthimos (Review)

558: Argylle – Matthew Vaughn directs this film about a spy novelist who’s stories become a little too real for her to handle. A decent movie with some great actors, good fun. (Review)

559: American Fiction - Jeffrey Wright leads this terrific cast in a drama/comedy about identity, family, and the stupidity of the world. (Review)
560: The Beekeeper – A classic nonsense action movie about a man fighting the system to get revenge. (Review)
561: Lisa Frankenstein – A fun throwback to the horror/comedies of my youth. (Review)
562: Dune (1984) – David Lynch attempts to bring the story of Paul Muad’dib to life in 1984. Excellent design, music, casting, and editing. Terrible script. (Review)

563: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training – Crunchyroll releases this special film to commemorate the new season of Demon Slayer! (Review)

564: Drive-Away Dolls – Ethan Cohen directs this crime comedy about two lesbians driving to Florida while being pursued by hitmen. (review)

565: Dune: Part Two – Denis Villeneuve finishes his adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune in exemplary fashion. If this isn’t the movie of the year I’ll eat my hat! (Review)

566: Love Lies Bleeding – Rose Glass gives us this tale of a bodybuilder who drifts into a small town and gets embroiled in local drama. Good movie! (Review)

567: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire – The Spenglers return, this time in New York City, to stop an ancient God from conquering the world with a new ice age! (Review)

568: Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire – Godzilla and Kong return, this time in Hollow Earth, to stop and ancient Monkey from conquering the world with a new ice age! (Review)

569: Monkey Man – Dev Patel directs and stars in this Indian revenge flick. (Review)

570: Civil War – Alex Garland’s tale of photojournalists trying to get the story in a future American Civil War. Fantastic work (Review)

571: Abigail – A kidnap plot gone wrong! A perfect cast brings this tale of a Ballerina Vampire to life. (Review)

572: The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare – Guy Ritchie gives us the fun, silly, action packed story of the original British special forces mission – Operation Postmaster. (Review)

97/342: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (25th Anniversary) – Episode I returns to cinemas for Star Wars Day! 25 Years…holy shit. (review)

573: The Fall Guy – The 1980’s Lee Majors TV show is reimagined for the big screen starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. A fantastic summer movie (review)

574: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – Hundreds of years after the original trilogy, the apes face their first serious internal threat: Proximus Caesar, the wannabe King. (Review)

575: Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga – George Miller returns to the Wasteland! Anya Taylor-Joy is Furiosa, seeking vengeance on Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus. (Review)

576: I Saw the TV Glow – Jane Schoenbrun’s examination of what happens when two teenagers bond over a mutual love for a “Buffy” style show in the mid-late 90’s, and how things go to shit when the show is cancelled. (Review)

577: The Bikeriders – Jeff Nichols delivers a great examination of a 1960’s Motorcycle club descending into crime. (Review)

578: Thelma – June Squibb leads a ruthless quest for REVENGE in this fantastic film. Never wrong an elderly person! (Review)

579: Deadpool & Wolverine – Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman return as the title characters in thier first MCU movie. Cameos and gore galore in this multiverse adventure comedy (Review)

580: Twisters – Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell lead a fantastic cast in this standalone sequel to the 1990’s original. The perfect summer movie. (review)

581: Alien: Romulus – Fede Alvarez directs the latest film in the Alien series as we have an adventure set 20 years after the original film. (Review)

582: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice – Tim Burton returns to “The ghost with the most” for a messy & rambling trip through the afterlife. (Review)

583: The Substance – Coralie Fargeat delivers one of the best films of 2024 in this comeback film for Demi Moore, a body horror cult classic. (Review)

584: Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis: A Fable – Stunningly nonsensical, overindulgent film-making at it’s “finest”. Must be seen to be believed. (Review)

585: Joker: Folie à Deux – Joachim Phoenix and Lady Gaga star in this musical courtroom drama follow up to 2019’s Joker. (Review)

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story – The first film released under the DC studios banner is a banger, the documentary on the life and times of my childhood Superman. (Review)

587: Saturday Night – This is the story of how Saturday Night Live began. An Excellent snapshot of that time and place that captures the chaos perfectly. (Review)

589: Conclave – Ralph Fiennes leads a FANTASTIC cast in this drama about the election of a new pope. (review)

289: Venom: The Last Dance – The Venom trilogy whimpers to an end, despite the best efforts of Hardy and Rhys Ifans. (Review)

290: Heretic – A24 delivers another outstanding movie that examines religion as two LDS missionaries knock on the wrong door. (Review)

291: Gladiator II – Ridley Scott returns to Imperial Rome with this lesser follow up to his Y2K classic. (Review)

292: Wicked Part I – A stellar cast and crew bring the hit musical to the Big Screen in the movie event of 2024. (Review)

293: Moana 2 – Disney returns to the ocean for this entertaining follow up to 2016’s original (Review)
