Comic books are one of the great loves of my life, and I hope that all of you enjoy this weekly jaunt into this amazing world. As with my movie reviews, this is not comprehensive. I cannot afford to read every comic, nor will I illegally download them, I respect the medium too much for that, but I don’t judge any who do. Every week there will be a “pick of the week”, what I feel is the essential comic of my purchases. At the end of the year, I will review my picks and choose a top 5 comics of the year.
I use cover images in my reviews. These images are from various comic companies, such as Marvel, DC, and Image in today’s case. They own this stuff. I do this for fun, not money.Enjoy.
A bad month for writing. I will just show the picks of the week
September 24th, 2014
This is the week that saw the return of the DCU in Superman Doomed #2, but something else took top prize:
Saga 23
As always, Saga proves a tough comic to beat. Vaughan’s writing and Staples’ art come together to produce perfection. Yes, perfection. Not a term to be thrown about.

Edge of Spider-Verse 4
Issue 3 did not impress me at all, but 4 was astounding. This Spider-Man is a very BAD spider-man. A monster really. SO GOOD.

Batman 35
The start of Snyder’s Batman swan song. He has been phenomenal. From the look of things, he is going out on a strong note.

Edge of Spider-verse 5
Yes, I put this above Death of Wolverine 4. Wolverine had a great heroic death, and it was done very well. This just rubbed me the right way. A Spider-girl that inhabits a giant robot spider suit that she controls because she has the spider “chooses” to bite her. Fascinating issue.

Stray Bullets: Killers 8
The first story arc of the revived Stray Bullets end with a shootout at the beach house. Sex, violence, betrayal. Top notch comic. One of the best I’ve ever read.
