Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The 529th film I have seen in theaters…

Oh yeah, Sam Raimi has returned to Marvel

Wanda has gone batshit. In an attempt to “get back” her imaginary children (Wandavision) she has used the Darkhold (evil spell book) to find a young woman who can travers the Multiverse. Doctor Strange must hop between universes to protect her from the Scarlet Witch.

Cumberbatch is a great actor, and continues his great work here.
Elizabeth Olsen’s journey takes a dark turn as the trauma of Infinity War and Wandavision spill over. Great work here.
Benedict Wong is back as Wong, the reigning Sorcerer Supreme!
Xochitl Gomez is American Chavez, the universe hopping Macguffin. Interesting to see what they do with her going forward.

This was a decent movie. It took me a couple of weeks to get into a cinema (Thanks Covid), but I did finally make it. I am not sure where this one places on the overall Marvel ranking. I feel like this new phase hasn’t really cemented itself yet. Sam Raimi returning to direct this was a great choice. He leaned heavily into his Evil Dead past to give us a decent horror movie! Wanda was a good threat.
