Captain Marvel returns!

Following a disaster on the Kree homeworld of Hala, their leader, Darr-Benn, leads a crusade to restore their empire. Captain Marvel, joined by Monica Rambeau, and Ms Marvel team up to stop her.

This is Marvel’s first bomb, and it is undeserved. The script needed a few more passes to polish it up, but the chemistry was there. Danver’s personality seemed a bit off, but that is to be expected as 30 years passed since the first film. Teyonah Parris was great as Rambeau, but the real star was Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. She’s got the stuff. Great actor, good energy. She carries the movie. Ms Marvel, and the Khan family, were the best parts. The biggest let down was the villain. I never felt the threat of Darr-Benn. The ending felt unfulfilling as well. A good movie, far from great.
6/10
