Possibly the best of 2023?!

1945. The second world war is winding down. Kōichi is a Kamikaze pilot that shirked his duty, by surviving. Over the ensuing years, He builds a life from the ashes of war in Tokyo with Noriko and an orphaned baby – Akiko. Godzilla then makes his entrance, hellbent on destroying the rebuilt Tokyo. Kōichi must face his demons and take action in a desperate plan to save the city and stop Godzilla.

Holy shit. This is not only the best Godzilla movie, it is a contender for best film of 2023. This is a movie that must be seen. Takashi Yamazaki has made a superb film, a truly great rumination on war, loss, and guilt. This is quite possibly the first Godzilla movie that made the human story important. The actors, highly regarded, give us Academy Award caliber performances. I say again. Holy shit. See this. Now!
