I hope all 3 of my readers are enjoying the first 5 days of 2017. I thought now would be a good time to give you a preview of what is coming to “Superponte.com”/ aka “The Skinny from the Fatty”.
The one thing any self respecting blog requires is CONTENT! I aim to deliver this with a series of weekly/monthly/otherwise regular articles! To figure out what this blog should be, I looked at what we already do well, and what my current passions are. I figure that the more of “me” that is in this site, the better it will be. Here is the current line up, starting Sunday 1/8/17!
Wednesday (Weekly)
Comix This Week!: The venerable weekly tradition is coming back starting 1/11 (with perhaps an “issue zero” this weekend to cover 1/5). These are nice “skinny” looks at the comics I am reading every week. Some editions will have many titles reviewed. Others will have only a few. If this gets any traction I hope that some readers will suggest some stuff to read. This is actually my oldest work. This began in the 1990’s as a weekly e-mail chain between some friends. Maybe I can snag some other contributors for this one.
Thursday (Weekly)
As society seems to have adopted “The day of Thor” as the one where we look back, I decided to follow suit. One of the gems of this blog, for me at least, is the movie list. Every film I have ever seen in a Movie Theater is listed here. In 2016 I toyed with the idea of doing “skinnys”, my short reviews, for all 300 or so films that predate this website. I could not find a way to make it work, but with my new plan, I think this is a great place to do this. As an added bones, these reviews, at 52 a year, give me 6 years of content. Score! How “on fleek” is that, kids?
Friday (Bi-Weekly)
In my younger and more vulnerable years I was able to read 2-3 books , or one GRRM, a week. Now, they pile up around my home, even in my kindle, and threaten to smother me. Rather than allow myself to be entombed I will knock down 1 every two weeks and give my thoughts on it. I will try to put some current stuff in here, but know that there will be some re-reading of classics as this is part of my normal reading habits.
Saturday (Regularly)
The Films I have seen in theaters…
This is the heart of this site, my movie reviews. My true love is cinema, and I love nothing more than to share that with you. Sometimes this will be weekly, biweekly, and perhaps daily at times! While generally locked to Saturday, this could pop up on Thursday preview screening nights or Friday openings as well. Mapping out the next 6 months, I don’t see more than 2 weeks passing at any given time before a new entry pops in. I am hoping to squeeze in a minimum of 20 films in 2017, likely much more. I want this year to be my most prolific to date.
Sunday (Weekly)
My creativity knows no bounds as I portmanteau the shit out of “Netflix and Chill”. Netflix, and the other streaming services, have come to dominate our leisure time. At the click of a button we have access to thousands of programs on any topic we choose. Nary a weekend passes where we don’t watch SOMETHING on Netflix. This column will document this. While a weekly column, this will be preempted for Awards Ceremonies.
Monday (Weekly)
The Collection: This term is well known to my close friends. It is my gathering of collectibles, tchotchkes, knick knacks, what have you. In times past, “The Collection” was vast. With money being tight in the mid 2000’s, and a recent move, much of The Collection was lost. However, I am slowly rebuilding it, after a fashion. This will be primarily be a photo post.
A central aspect of this will be my amassing a complete line of Kenner Star Wars action figures (1977-85). I am currently in 1981, in the middle of the Empire Strikes Back era. Rather than be solely focused with what was lost (Star Wars), I am always on the lookout for something new; new to me at least. This one could be fun.

My day off from the blog. Expect nothing.
Ad libitum
The Golden Globes and Oscars are the main focus of this section, and we are right in the thick of awards season. The Globes are this weekend and Oscar Sunday is on 2/26. I am usually 50/50 in my predictions, but I assume the butt-hole year of 2016 will push my score lower than usual.
This section could also apply to any other event I want to cover- be it some television “happening”, important event in the news, or even a road trip!
That is pretty much all I have to say for now. We will have a couple of articles this weekend, but Monday is the start date as I show of my latest acquisitions! This is an ambitious schedule, but I think a manageable one. I plan on having lots of fun with this, so I hope you come along for the adventure!
